Peshawar Zalmi
Peshawar Zalmi are the defending champions. They topped the 2026 league stage with 8 wins, 1 loss and 1 no-result, beat Islamabad United by 70 runs in the Qualifier, and won the final against Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets on 3 May 2026.
Captain Babar Azam scored 588 runs in 2026, equalling the record for most runs in a PSL season, and became the first batter to reach 4,000 PSL runs. Leg-spinner Sufiyan Muqeem took 22 wickets and was Player of the Tournament. With both on two-year contracts from the 2026 auction, Zalmi start PSL 2027 as favourites.
Hyderabad Kingsmen
Hyderabad Kingsmen joined the PSL in 2026 as the seventh team, owned by FKS Group, after the expansion auction in January 2026. Led by Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne, they finished 4th in the league on net run rate.
They then beat Multan Sultans by 8 wickets in Eliminator 1 and Islamabad United by 2 runs in Eliminator 2 to reach the final in their debut season. Their 2027 target is to go one step further.
Lahore Qalandars
Lahore Qalandars are one of the two most successful PSL teams, with three titles in 2022, 2023 and 2025. In 2026, under Shaheen Shah Afridi, they won 5 of 10 league games but missed the playoffs on net run rate.
Lahore usually build around their fast bowlers and their own player development programme, so their retention list will be one of the most watched before PSL 2027.
Islamabad United
Islamabad United also have three PSL titles, won in 2016, 2018 and 2024. In 2026, captain Shadab Khan led them to 2nd place in the league with 13 points.
The playoffs went wrong, though. They lost the Qualifier to Peshawar Zalmi by 70 runs and then lost Eliminator 2 to Hyderabad Kingsmen by just 2 runs.
Karachi Kings
Karachi Kings won their only PSL title in 2020. In 2026, with David Warner as captain, they finished 6th with 5 wins and 10 points, missing the playoffs on net run rate.
Karachi's 2027 plans will depend on overseas availability during the IPL clash, as several of their key players in recent seasons have been overseas stars.
Multan Sultans
The Multan Sultans name returned in 2026 under new owners CD Ventures, who had bought the franchise first picked as the Sialkot team. The original Multan franchise, which won the 2021 title, was sold to Walee Technologies and became Rawalpindiz.
Led by Ashton Turner, Multan finished 3rd in 2026 with 12 points, then lost Eliminator 1 to Hyderabad Kingsmen by 8 wickets.
Quetta Gladiators
Quetta Gladiators won the PSL in 2019. Before the 2026 auction they retained Abrar Ahmed, Usman Tariq, Hassan Nawaz and Shamyl Hussain, and Saud Shakeel captained the side.
Quetta won only 3 of their 10 league games in 2026 and finished 7th, so PSL 2027 retentions and the auction are important for their rebuild.
Rawalpindiz
Rawalpindiz are owned by Walee Technologies, which bought the old Multan franchise in February 2026, moved it to Rawalpindi and renamed it. Mohammad Rizwan captained the team in its first season.
It was a tough start: Rawalpindiz won 1 of 10 matches and finished last. They will be one of the busiest teams in the PSL 2027 trade window and auction.
PSL 2027 New Teams
There are no new teams in PSL 2027. The newest sides are Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindiz, who both played their first season in 2026. PCB has not announced any further expansion beyond eight teams for 2027.
PSL 2027 Squads
Full PSL 2027 squads will be known after the retentions, direct signings, trade window and auction. Players signed in 2026 are on two-year contracts, and each team can retain up to seven players, so most squads will look similar to last season.
Follow the PSL 2027 auction page for retention lists and new signings, and the PSL 2027 schedule page for each team's fixtures.
